Briarcliffe Manor has long been regarded as one of Rhode Island’s premier assisted living and rehabilitative centers. With state-of-the-art facilities and a continuum of care that includes the region’s most comprehensive memory care services, Briarcliffe has pioneered many assisted living advances.
Now, we are proud to announce the Spring 2021 opening of our latest campus addition — The Preserve.
The preserve represents a new direction in assisted living — a perfect blend of the care and compassion Briarcliffe is known for with the modern elegance of sixty-six luxury private residences. Completely changing the traditional view of assisted living communities, Preserve residents will enjoy beautiful indoor and outdoor living spaces along with access to amenities, concierge, and personal care services, creating the perfect lifestyle.
“We have spent the last decade dreaming about this project and are incredibly excited to be able to add the Preserve to our campus,” says Briarcliffe founder Ashkay Talwar. “We really believe that, like our other offerings, the Preserve will be in a league of its own and comparable to none.”
The Preserve is special not just in concept, but also in construction. While many will notice how open and airy the living quarters feel and how well they facilitate movement to the outside, a deeper dive into the design reveals a number of architectural marvels.
Thoughtful planning has helped the new development seamlessly blend into the surrounding neighborhood while standing head-and-shoulders above other assisted living communities. Wide corridors, extra-large windows, and high ceilings bring an open, airy feeling and abundant natural light.
Our designers made the new community particularly resilient to climate issues — with generators capable of providing power for seven days in the event of outages from natural disasters. Similarly, lifestyle-conscious design has created an environment where residents will be able to age in place if their need for assistance grows — as all apartments meet the strictest codes, so there is no need to move if independence diminishes. [Fire code standards at assisted living communities typically require residents to evacuate independently without assistance. Built to higher healthcare standards and fire codes, The Preserve is allowed to utilize a “defend in place” strategy where this is not required. Our residents can age in place longer from a fire code perspective due to the building type.]
Exceeding the requirements of code, the Preserve has two large elevators for access to the second floor (44 apartments). Although not needed, the second elevator was added for peace of mind and safety. Most ground-floor apartments open to individual patios while second-floor apartments have traditional or Juliette balconies.
All residents will enjoy barrier-free showers for ease of access, and emergency alarm pulls in each apartment for safety. All apartments have individual heating and air conditioning units for maximum comfort.
Adding to the sense of community, the Preserve apartments are set within easy walking distance of the Briarcliffe bistro, dining room, and other campus amenities.
