Briarcliffe Manor Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation, located at 49 Old Pocasset Road on 30 acres of picturesque, wooded land in Johnston, has once again been ranked among the top nursing homes in the country for 2024-2025 by US News and World Report.
Briarcliffe Manor, is again ranked as among the top five nursing homes in Rhode Island out of a total of 74, according to U.S. News & World Report. It also received “high-performing” status for both short- and long-term care. Moreover, U.S. News & World Report issued a 5/5 overall score for Briarcliffe Manor from its evaluation of over 15,000 nursing homes nationwide.
Briarcliffe Administrator and President, Akshay Talwar stated: “To be recognized as one of the 2025 U.S. News Best Nursing Homes, a home must have been “High Performing” in short-term rehabilitation, long-term care or both. Only 19% of almost 15,000 skilled nursing facilities rated by U.S. News meet that standard. We are fortunate to have been named in both categories. Delivering quality care is not easy in today’s environment. We work hard to achieve the best outcomes for our patients year after year. Our commitment to the highest quality care is unwavering.”
Vice President of Operations, Kyle Naylor, noted: “In the U.S. News & World Report rankings, the Short-Term ratings are based on an assessment of 9 quality measures, using data from the federal government’s Care Compare program. Those measures include staffing levels, medical outcomes and resident complaints. Similarly, the Long-Term ratings are based on an assessment carried out by U.S. News of 8 quality measures, including staffing, medical outcomes, resident complaints, vaccinations and appropriate use of medications.
Jonna Matos, RN and Director of Nursing Services added: “I am very proud of each member of the Briarcliffe family for the competent, excellent and loving care that they provide. Our caregivers are compassionate, competent and caring. This award is a testament to the fine work that each and every one of them performs here every day”
The U.S. News Best Nursing Homes ratings are based on the most detailed analysis of the country’s skilled nursing facilities. These are the only published ratings that recognize the two very different types of care provided by skilled nursing facilities:
Short-Term Rehabilitation for patients following a hospitalization for surgery, heart attack, stroke, injury or similar condition.
Long-Term Carefor patients who are no longer able to live independently and need help with daily activities.
For both types of care, a home may receive a rating of High Performing, Average or Below Average. Homes that excel at one type of care do not necessarily excel at the other; some facilities specialize in only one of the two types. Briarcliffe Manor received top ratings in both categories.
Founded in 1963 and locally owned and operated, the Briarcliffe Senior Healthcare Campus also includes The Briarcliffe Preserve- an Assisted and Supportive Independent Residence and two memory care assisted living residences, namely Briarcliffe Gardens and The Cottages at Briarcliffe.
